Detailed description of Wigwam Resort, Patriot Course

Wigwam Resort, The Patriot Course, previously named The Blue Course, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

The Wigwam Resort offers three 18-hole championship golf courses. There you will find 54 holes of championship golf including one course designed by Robert "Red" Lawrence and two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. And, in true Wigwam style, each course offers a unique challenge that adds spice and variety to one's stay at this timeless and relaxing retreat.

The Patriot Course at Wigwam Resort first opened for play in 1965. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

Playing to a length just over 6,000 yards, but a par of 70 the test can be a bit deceiving. Here is a creative course: one full of decisions requiring thought-provoking strategy.

The Patriot has been described as the "great contradiction" in that it plays differently from front to backside. The course is known to be both technical and challenging yet subtle, golfers are challenged by bunkers, water hazards and dog-leg fairways.

Jones tees: 6,001 Yards, 69.0 Rating / 123 Slope

Championship tees: 5,572 Yards, 67.1 Rating / 117 Slope

Club tees: 5,199 Yards, 65.6 Rating / 113 Slope

Forward tees: 4,791 Yards, 66.6 Rating / 113 Slope

Nice resort style course. Flat and forgiving layout. One of three on site. On day of play on the there was a qualifier for the U.S. Open on site. But our course (Blue) was wide open. Good fairways and nice greens. There are a lot of courses nearby so the deals can be had with a little research. I would rate it a B+. Glad I played it.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

I was visiting a friend in Arizona and we decided to play this course. Big mistake. The pro shop was not very helpful. There is 3 courses at this location. None are marked. We were scheduled to play the patriot course but could find no signs for the location. Finally found a greens keeper who pointed out hole #1. Next problem we got behind a foursome that could not play golf at all. No course marshal around to get help from either. The fairways were a little thin and the greens needed a lot of work. Not worth the money to play here.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I won't play again, I wouldn't recommend this course, More than a field, but less than a golf course, Worse than average course for the area, Any price would be too much for this courses
